About Orangefield DofE

Who We Are

Orangefield DofE delivers the Duke of Edinburgh Award through a partnership between 30th Belfast Boys’ Brigade and Orangefield Girls’ Brigade.

Based at Orangefield Presbyterian Church in Belfast, we provide young people with opportunities to complete their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards through a supportive and well-organised programme.

Our aim is to help participants develop confidence, independence, leadership skills and resilience while enjoying new experiences and building lasting friendships.

Delivered by Volunteers

Orangefield DofE is led entirely by volunteers who generously give their time to support young people.

Our leadership team includes experienced DofE Leaders, Expedition Supervisors and Assessors who work together to provide guidance throughout every stage of the Award.

As volunteers, we balance DofE responsibilities alongside work, family and other commitments. We are committed to supporting participants and families while appreciating patience and understanding during busy periods.

Our Experience

Our team has many years of experience supporting young people through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

We have helped participants complete:

  • Bronze Awards
  • Silver Awards
  • Gold Awards
  • Practice Expeditions
  • Day walks
  • Qualifying Expeditions

Many of our participants have gone on to achieve their gold award and use the experience to support further education, employment and leadership opportunities.

Working Together

One of the strengths of Orangefield DofE is the partnership between Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Brigade.

This allows young people to work together, learn from one another and build friendships while participating in a safe, structured and supportive environment.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award encourages teamwork, respect and personal development, values that are reflected throughout our programme.

Safeguarding and Welfare

The welfare of our participants is our highest priority

All leaders involved in the programme follow safeguarding procedures and undertake the necessary checks and training required by the organisation.

We work closely with families to ensure participants can enjoy every aspect of the Award in a safe and supportive environment.
